In Canada it gets flipping cold. I’m always on the look-out for a great hat. But often they can be bulky and when you go inside a restaurant or cinema you need a giganto bag to put your giganto hat in.
But not anymore! I’ve found (and adapted) the perfect sock yarn pattern to make it even perfecter!
Sock yarn is warm and knits up nice and closely with no gaps to let the winter chill inside your noggin. And the colours and variety are endless! I’ll admit it, I have half a dozen of these hats because they are SO AWESOME!
So whether you call it a toque, a beanie, a bobble hat or just a plain old winter hat – this is the best one ever.
Just pick the sock yarn of your choice (please make sure it’s big enough to make a pair of socks, is not a summer blend so it will keep you warm enough and is for size 2 US knitting needles) and lemme at it!
Sock yarn is available in all knitting stores and places like Walmart – it ranges in price from $5-6 up to $30-40 depending on the type of mix of the yarn, brand etc. You can go as cheap or as expensive as you like! I usually get mine in the bargain basement at Romni Wools – my favourite knitting supplies shop.
